LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--This leading conference is a unique food contact forum, bringing together over 180 delegates to share ideas and discuss regulatory developments in the packaging sphere. In addition to a celebratory social event, the event programme features pre-conference workshops, led by Smithers Pira's food contact experts, an insight into the practical use of FACET and three full days of interactive presentations, lively discussions and extensive networking opportunities.
The Flavourings, Additives and food Contact materials Exposure Task (FACET) is a tool to assess exposure to chemicals in the diet, including migrants from food contact materials (FCMs). It is the result of a 4 year funded Commission FP7 Framework project. FACET will impact heavily on the packaging industry, particularly the food contact sector and, therefore, features strongly on this year’s agenda.
On the main Plastics agenda, Catherine Simoneau, European Commission, Joint Research Centre, will present an overview of what FACET has changed. Plus, in a dedicated morning workshop, in which FACET will be formally launched, experts will describe the use of exposure for risk assessments and the development of the tool. The workshop will also include an interactive session on using the tool to make exposure assessments and participants will be able to download their own copy of FACET.
Addressing all topical concerns in the food contact industry, the event includes presentations from regulatory and compliance bodies BfR, Food Safety Authority of Ireland, EFSA, Official Food Control Authority of Zurich and the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment. Additional programme highlights include expert legal insight from Keller and Heckman, plus a focus on adhesives, inks and coatings in contact with food.
In honour of this leading food contact event’s 30th edition, all registrations to the Plastics conference include attendance to a celebratory gala dinner, for a night of gourmet food, drinks and entertainment, with stunning views over Tower Bridge and the Thames. Networking opportunities throughout the 3 day conference are unrivalled in this industry, as attendance is supported by companies from across the food contact supply chain.
