WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Telerik® today announced the results of its latest industry survey discussing user experience with UI test automation pilot projects. Conducted between August 1 and September 10, 2014, 1,000 IT decision makers were polled to determine why UI test automation projects can succeed and fail. This survey was conducted to ascertain a better understanding of what it takes to be successful in UI test automation. Initial findings reveal that while there are many benefits to test automation – less time on regression testing, more time for new testing activities and fewer overall bugs, test automation is far from easy. Testing requires collaboration from both testers and the development team and when that collaboration is lacking, test automation is more likely to fail.

“UI test automation is by far the hardest test domain in which to work. Successful teams realize their best chance is strong, honest collaboration between all team members,” said Jim Holmes, Vice President, ALM and Testing, Falafel Software. “Teams with strong collaboration empower and expect testers and developers to work closely together. The results speak for themselves. A message that is clearly reinforced in the Telerik survey.”

Survey Highlights:

“The results of our new study, give credence to the reality faced by today’s testers and developer teams – collaboration breeds success,” said Aaron Mahimainathan, Chief Product Officer, Telerik. “Ultimately, test automation does not require the need to work harder, but smarter.
