TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Once again, Kyle MacDonald from Phoenix Interactive Design Inc. was recognized as one of Canada’s leading women entrepreneurs at the annual RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards. MacDonald, who was recognized for the RBC Momentum award, was described as “the visionary behind the world's leading provider of Windows-based multi-vendor ATM software”, and represents one of six women-owned Canadian businesses who have been recognized this year with this prestigious award.

The RBC Momentum Award recognizes the entrepreneur who has successfully overcome obstacles and capitalized on opportunities to deliver 10% or more growth, year-over-year for more than three years. Through expanded management, empowered employees, and demonstrated excellence, this recipient has created a flexible and responsive business that is able to adapt to changing market environments and leverage opportunities for continued growth.

Presented by Women of Influence, the awards recognize Canada’s leading female entrepreneurs who have made impressive and substantial contributions to the local, Canadian or global economy. The announcement was made at a gala reception on November 26 hosted by Diane Francis, editor-at-large for the Financial Post. A record-breaking 4,800 nominees were contenders for the awards.

“The Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) is proud to support Canadian women entrepreneurs who are not only contributing to the creation of jobs and the prosperity of our economy but are also bringing their passion to life and excelling,” said Andrea Bolger, executive vice president, Business Financial Services, RBC Royal Bank. “These annual awards enable us to showcase these remarkably outstanding, bold and successful women entrepreneurs.”

“I’m so proud to represent Phoenix today and accept this prestigious award. Our success is directly attributable to the absolute attention we pay to our clients’ satisfaction and success. I started this company because I was dissatisfied with the status quo. Our company evolved into the internationally recognized leader in our industry as a result of our foundation, vision and concrete purpose of guiding and motivating our customers and ourselves to do better and learn from every hard step we’ve taken along the way,” commented Phoenix’s MacDonald.

MacDonald and the company she founded in 1987, Phoenix Interactive Design Inc., were previously recognized in 2006 by the RBC Canadian Entrepreneur Awards; a testament to MacDonald’s unwavering vision, tenacity and commitment to the sustained growth and evolution of her company.

McDonald added, “We remain focused and approach each day with a winning spirit. Our continued and growing success on a global stage is because of our ‘execute with excellence’ principles. However, we wouldn’t be where we are today without the dedication of our highly skilled and customer focused team. Nor would we be here if our clients didn’t want to work with partners who understand and anticipate how to solve for their business challenges. That’s what we do – every day – and it represents a culture that I have instilled in Phoenix since day one. It continues to pay off!”

Carolyn Lawrence, president and CEO, Women of Influence Inc., praised the winners for their relentless dedication to pursuing their passions and for paving the way for future generations of female entrepreneurs. “We are honoured to recognize the contributions of women entrepreneurs in Canada, helping to inspire new generations of innovators and leaders,” explained Ms. Lawrence.
