BOSTON, MA, September 21, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sponge will headline South Shore Music Hall in Quincy on Saturday September 21. Doors are at 8 pm, tickets are $16 in advance/$20 day of show and now available via ticketfly.com and at the venue. Ages 21 and over are welcome to attend. Local favorites Gone for Days, Pieces and Jet Black Motorcade open the show.

Hailing from Detroit, Sponge gained widespread notoriety with their debut album "Rotting Piñata." Hits like "Plowed" and "Molly (16 Candles)" fueled massive airplay on radio stations from coast to coast and were in heavy rotation on MTV in the late 90's. After "Rotting Piñata" went Gold, the band toured internationally, and followed up with the critically lauded CD "Wax Ecstatic," garnering additional hits "Wax Ecstatic" and "Have You Seen Mary?"

So far 2013 has been a banner year for Sponge. The group just finished a successful stint on the two-month, 40 date Summerland tour, joining other 90's favorites Everclear, Live and Filter. At the tour's end, Sponge inked a deal with New York's The End Records (Danzig, H.I.M.). Sponge are now touring in support of their seventh studio release "Stop the Bleeding" - unleashed nationally on September 17, 2013.

Sponge continues to stand out as one of rock's most charismatic live acts, with lead singer Vinnie Dombroski's powerful voice, heart-on-his- sleeve lyrics and full throttle stage captivating audiences the world over. At South Shore Music Hall, fans can expect a "no holds barred rock show!" says Dombroski.
