The Magnificent Midlothian Food Festival is an all-you-can-eat party/fundraiser/block party staffed by Rotarians and volunteers from area Rotaract and Interact student groups, in order to maximize their charitable donation.
The Festival's inception came after four Midlothian Rotarians attended a Seafood festival in Gloucester, Virginia and a few weeks later, they came up with a similar idea for a festival in Midlothian. The first event was held at Moorefield Office park in 1988 with several hundred attendees. Since the first food festival 25 years ago, the Midlothian Food Festival has raised over 1 million dollars for local charities, and gets more than 4,000 attendees each year and is gearing up for the largest turnout to date, an expected crowd of more than 5,000.
