Peter S Mottek himself believes strongly in the necessity of higher education for everyone. After Peter S Mottek received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Southern Methodist University, he went on to earn an MBA from the University of Miami several years later. After a few more years went by, Peter S Mottek continued with executive education programs such as the Latin American CEO Development Program at the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University, and then participated in the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2011. According to Peter S Mottek, he would not be where he is in the world today without a high quality education.
"That is exactly the reasoning behind the Legacy Foundation," says Peter S Mottek. "Some of these young adults would otherwise not have the opportunity to attend university, but with the help they get from the Legacy Foundation, they are on their way to a brighter future." According to Peter S Mottek, education is important all in all for the students themselves, for their families and for the nation of Portugal as a whole.
When the Legacy Foundation was started, it was only a very small branch of what Peter S Mottek was working on in his career. Currently an enormously successful CEO and country manager of a high profile bank that has its roots in the United Kingdom, Peter S Mottek currently works to manage a bank with branch locations throughout the Iberian Peninsula.
When he first arrived in Portugal, Peter S Mottek became immersed in the culture and customs of the country, and then he learned some of the appalling facts about the state of the Portuguese education system.
"When my colleagues and I learned that only one in four Portuguese teens graduate from high school, with only one in four going on to complete a higher degree, we were saddened," says Peter S Mottek. "Here we were in a beautiful developed European nation with terrible educational statistics. We knew that we were in a position to help change that, so we wanted to start making a difference." So the Legacy Foundation was born by my wife, Mercedes and friends.
"We're educating our future," says Peter S Mottek. "In a global economy, we need to invest in everyone's future." According to Peter S Mottek, the four years of the Legacy Foundation have already made an enormous difference in the lives of many young Portuguese adults. The first students to receive scholarships have now graduated or will soon graduate from university, and, according to Peter S Mottek, will ultimately go on to do great things for the nation of Portugal, and for the world.
About: Peter S Mottek is a highly successful CEO and country manager of a bank based in the United Kingdom.
