An incident of road rage was reported recently in Coldwater, Michigan, according to a WTVB report. A man was believed to have been driving aggressively, tailgating a woman who then slammed on her brakes, which caused the man to change lanes suddenly. She claimed that he pulled up alongside her and screamed at her. The incident could have turned deadly as she had a hand gun in her possession that she had pointed at the motorist as she said she was afraid of his aggressive driving. Similar motorist encounters have been reported in several states.

Aggressive Driving a Precursor to Road Rage

Many people respond to aggressive driving with aggression, such as honking, yelling, and obscene gestures. Aggressive responses can fuel the interaction and often escalate the situation to road rage. To prevent this from happening there are a few things that drivers can do to avoid an accident and engaging in road rage, such as to stay calm, avoid eye contact and non-verbal communication with the other motorist and allow the aggressive driver to pass.
