Top Tech Newcomers in the Entertainment Industry

The mysterious world of entertainment is in a phase of rapid change, as it tries to keep up with superfast digital connectivity and insane processing speeds. The cinema & theatre sector has taken a hit as people find their entertainment online, although there will always be a hardcore group that sticks to what they love; as far as online entertainment goes, there are emerging technologies that offer amazing virtual experiences.

Internet of Things

The IoT is a super information highway that lets digital devices talk to each other; powered by the 10x speeds of 5G (6G is being developed), this is a platform to host huge networks such as air traffic control, city road traffic and all the marine waterways. AI is a game-changer and all of the experts are predicting mind-blowing advancements; machine learning has unlimited potential and where it ends, no one knows. We have probably reached the point where we have a supercomputer running AI that is smarter than us, which is kind of scary; we’ve all seen Terminator and Elon Musk, who is ALWAYS right, says we are not taking the threat of AI seriously, calling for the creation of regulatory bodies to control the industry.

Metaverse

A concept from Facebook creator Mark Zuckerburg, the Metaverse is the digital universe and users create 3d avatars and enter a strange world of VR. Imagine, you’re a cool dude strolling down a NY street and suddenly 27 ninjas come out of the shadows and viciously attack you! You are wearing a headset with real-time audio and video, your virtual world is being rendered at insane speeds to bring you this experience.

Racing simulators

Seriously, folks, the latest generation of racing car simulators are highly addictive; if you have a couple of thousand dollars, you can have one in the corner of your bedroom. Your chair moves with the action, thanks to hydraulics and electronics; choose ant track in the world and the car specs are out of this world. They have simulations for golf, bike racing and even combat sports (wearing a VR headset), so whatever you’re into, it can be found.

Live Streaming events

From the UFC to World snooker and everything in between, all major sporting events are live streamed – pay-per-view is a billion-dollar game; while streaming is not exactly new, with a state-of-the-art home theatre and huge TV screen, you can create your own ambience for that major game. All the top boxing, MMA, F1, NBA, PGA, and PFL events are streamed.

Online casinos

This industry is exploding; once you register as a player, you can login from any location and play your favourite game or try your hand at roulette. Millions play on Friday and Saturday (gamble responsibly) and the virtual experience is awesome.

AI is going to continue to get smarter and who knows what is down the road? Our future is one that incorporates digital connectivity, making this an exciting time to be alive.
