BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ShopAdvisor, the shopping experience company for media, today announced that it has added two experienced digital media professionals to its executive team. Karen Macumber has joined as chief marketing officer, responsible for all of the company’s marketing activities including marketing communications, research, and consumer and customer acquisition programs. Mike Connell joins as vice president, business development, where he manages all aspects of the company’s program to partner with advertising agencies to extend ShopAdvisor’s suite of tools to leading brands. Together, they bring more than four decades of experience in publishing, new media technology and advertising to ShopAdvisor as the company continues to close the gap that exists between publishers, their brand advertisers and retail partners.
“At ShopAdvisor, we are in the midst of transforming the way publishers, brands and retailers engage with readers across all forms of digital and print media and therefore require a strong team that understands all aspects of the media industry to help drive and execute our strategy,” said Scott Cooper, founder and CEO of ShopAdvisor. “Both Karen and Mike have proven track records in their respective areas of expertise, making them a perfect fit for our company, and have already made contributions as the newest members of our executive team.”
Macumber has spent more than 20 years at the leading edge of digital media, including holding key management positions at Monster, AT&T New Media and Ziff-Davis Interactive. She is also a successful entrepreneur, having founded Fulgent Media Group, an award-winning, full service media agency, which she scaled to $20M in annual revenue and sold to Alloy Media and Marketing in 2008. Prior to founding Fulgent, Macumber was the first director of marketing at Monster.com, where she established the marketing department and ran all advertising and public relations activities for the site globally. She began her digital career in 1993, joining Ziff-Davis Interactive’s marketing team, where she helped to launch one of the first Internet publishing and advertising platforms.
“Throughout my career I have been dedicated to the pursuit of developing and launching cross-platform solutions for the media industry,” explained Macumber. “ShopAdvisor has a unique offering that is ideally suited to meet the rapidly changing requirements of the media industry at a critical and exciting point of its evolution. I was eager to come on board to leverage my knowledge and passion to help propel the company forward as it works to close the gap between media and retail across all platforms.”
Connell brings more than 15 years of advertising experience to his role as VP, business development. Prior to joining ShopAdvisor, he served as SVP, strategic partnerships at USO Networks Inc., a leader in video optimization for leading brands seeking wider distribution of their video assets. Before joining USO Networks in 2008, he held senior sales positions at Advertising.com, opened the Boston advertising office for Google, Inc., and was one of the earliest team members at Burst Media.
“As ShopAdvisor continues to gain momentum, expanding its network of strategic agency partners will become increasingly important,” said Connell. “I look forward to establishing and growing these relationships to ultimately help our publishing customers drive deeper engagement and stronger ROI for their advertisers.”
