AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Compass Learning, a leader in learning acceleration, today announced the appointment of Eileen Shihadeh, Vice President of Marketing & Product Management, to the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) Education Division Board of Directors for 2015. In this role, Shihadeh will apply nearly two decades of experience in K-12 education and visionary leadership at Compass Learning, a SIIA member company, to help guide and support the education technology industry.
“Eileen’s experience as both a classroom teacher and a K-12 content developer is eclipsed only by her passion for helping students achieve success through the use of technology in the classroom,” said Karen Billings, Vice President of SIIA’s Education Division. “The board and our industry will benefit greatly from her perspective and her vision for how software and other innovative tools can transform the educational experience.”
As a newly appointed board member, Shihadeh will collaborate on the Education Division’s development of initiatives and help determine the activities, projects and events for 2015 and beyond. The division represents more than 180 member companies that provide software, digital content, and other technologies that address educational needs.
Shihadeh joined the Compass Learning executive team in March 2014 and immediately orchestrated the launch of the company’s new suite of intervention, blended learning and credit recovery tools. Before bringing her talents to Compass Learning, Shihadeh served as Vice President of Marketing for BARBRI, and Vice President of Global Marketing for eInstruction. In addition, she spent several years in marketing leadership roles at Texas Instruments’ Education Division, and prior to that, at Harcourt.
Shihadeh is active in other education-focused organizations, including the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), DOLS, EdNet and the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics (NCTM). She has a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from the University of Austin, and pursued graduate studies in both mathematics and business.
