Highlights on the quarter include the following: On a GAAP basis, earnings per diluted share increased to $0.43 in the second quarter compared to $0.33 for the second quarter of the prior year, up 10 cents or 30.3 percent Earnings per diluted share, excluding special items, increased to $0.50 compared to $0.38 for the second quarter of the prior year
