Health Today

Why would so many Queensland residents seek the help of a professional skin care business in Brisbane? Is getting help with skincare really so important to that many people? Actually, you’ll probably find that it really is, and for more reasons than what may appear “obvious.”

Yes, as it happens, we as humans do care a great deal about our skin, the way it looks and feels, and what state of health it is in. Below we’ll take a closer look at some of the most important reasons for that being the case.

1. We Are Very Conscious About Skin

Our skin --- along with our hair and teeth --- is the most visible feature of our bodies, and so it follows that it’s also one of the parts we can become most self-conscious about. Even small blemishes on our skin can cause us great distress as we start to worry about what other people will think and say when they see it. Proper skin care helps us to keep our skin moisturised, fresh and clean.

Problems with our skin even feature heavily in stress dreams, perhaps second only to dreams about losing teeth in terms of how common they are. It’s reflective of our own fears about how visible our imperfections are to other people.

2. While Enduring So Much, Skin Remains Fragile

Doctors and medical experts are always telling us how amazing and robust our skin is. It’s waterproof, withstands the heat and the cold, and protects our internal organs, muscle tissue and other body parts from everything the world throws at us. Well, they’re not wrong exactly, but at the same time it’s easy for us to see the fragility of our skin, too, which prompts people to care a lot more about skin care.

Take sunburn, for example. People with fair skin might go outside on a hot summer’s day while taking every precaution they can to protect themselves from the sun’s UV, but still come back sore and red because even relatively short periods of exposure for some can lead to pain, discomfort, peeling and more.

3. There Are More Products Than Ever

Another reason people care so much about skin care nowadays too is because we have so many products dedicated to it. From face washes and creams to lotions, oils and even more heavily medicated products from our doctors that help us with skin disorders and other problems. Skin care has its own aisle in the supermarket; its own section of the online marketplace. It’s a huge industry, and we are well supplied with options, which in turn makes caring about skin care easier than ever.

4. We Feel Pressure from Social Media

This is the age of the Instagram filter and other social media photo manipulation. It’s bizarre because we know very well that virtually no photo that we see on social media is entirely real, and yet we can’t help but feel intimidated by them. People make their skin look utterly perfect using filters, lighting and camera tools, and they can even make themselves look thinner, and we buy into the act, thinking that we have to take more steps to look after our own skin.

Fake or not, social media has made the world’s desire to be beautiful stronger than it has ever been.

5. Most Of Us Want to Look and Feel Our Best

Finally, it’s perfectly normal for everyone out there to just want to look and feel at their best and most confident. Even if it just means walking out of the door knowing that your skin is clean and smooth, it makes a big difference to the way people feel, and that too has a direct impact on their quality of life.
