Motoring Today

If you rely on your truck not just for transportation, but for hauling and work purposes, too, you want to keep it in tip-top shape at all times. Letting one thing be neglected is a surefire way to end up stranded on the roadside during a big move or on the payroll clock, and both can be devastating.

However, some parts definitely take precedence over others, and we’re going to look at those, today.

If you prioritize these parts, you can save yourself a lot of hassle and hit the roads with confidence.

Tires:

This is an obvious one. If your tire blows on the road, you can expect to be stuck for at least fifteen minutes, and that’s assuming you have a spare and the proper tools to perform the exchange. If you have to rely on a roadside service to get the tire replaced, you can be waiting for hours.

Luckily, you can avoid 99% of tire problems just by inspecting your tires and taking care of them. Every few trips, take a minute to see if your tires are balding from tons of use, and make sure to check for foreign objects that might be penetrating one of your tires.

Common culprits for this are nails, glass, or exceptionally-sharp rocks. Noticing these issues before they cause major damage can save you big money on repairs and a lot of time you would have wasted stuck on the roadside.

This is also one of the most common problems with trucks entering and exiting job sites or unkempt areas. If you notice a problem, get to a local repair shop fast.

Windshield:

Your windshield is extremely prone to damage; especially if you’re constantly driving through wooded areas with limbs and debris smacking it, or on rocky roads where vehicles ahead of you can kick rocks back at your windshield.

Unfortunately, the small amounts of damage those things can cause can quickly turn into a fully destroyed windshield that prevents you from driving.

Again, take a few moments before you hit the road to scan your windshield and see if there are any embedded objects or minor cracks. If you catch them quickly and call a windshield repair service for heavy vehicles, you can save yourself a ton of money in the long run.

Oil Reserves for Motor Health:

One small thing gets neglected the most on any vehicle: The oil. This causes a ton of problems, and most people don’t even realize it.

Oil is the lifeblood of your vehicle, and when it gets old or runs out, your engine is incapable of properly lubricating itself. As it runs on poor-quality oil, friction and heat will build up, and parts may seize or suddenly break.

These engine issues aren't something you can just fix up on the side of the road, and what could have been prevented with a few dollars worth of oil quickly turns into thousands of dollars in engine repairs.

Here’s a guide for when and how to manage your oil reserves. Make sure you stay on top of it.
