Miami, Florida
strength
Simple Definition of strength
the quality or state of being physically strong
the ability to resist being moved or broken by a force
the quality that allows someone to deal with problems in a determined and effective way
Hip Hop Artist Hink doesn't need Webster's definition above to understand intrinsically what the word strength means. He is by his own accord a "product of struggle," and his relation to the construct "Strength," goes beyond the mere physical.
Growing up in Canton, Ohio, Hink says his mental strength was often tested to the limits. He left home at fourteen, never knew his father, raised his brother alone, and suffered relationship struggles and the tragic passing of his daughter. Still like the definition above, Hink has resisted being moved or broken by a force. His strength has come from lyrics, beats, and rhyme.
"My first love was really Hip Hop, said Hink. And from the early 90’s till the present day, it's just been a way to express my deepest feelings."
He made the move from Ohio to Miami in 2001, with his car, a couple credit cards, his clothes, and literally just a few Benjamins in his pocket. The gamble paid off. Not only has he been able to perform in other cities around the world, but living in the international city of Miami, he has had the opportunity to work with artists from diverse cultures including The Bahamas, Colombia, Haiti, Ireland, and Italy, just to name a few.
Embracing other traditions, but still representing his Midwestern roots, Hink continues to reach out and let others know where he is from, what he came from and where he is going – with a positive vibe. This is what Hink is about – After a fourteen year stay. Miami is now Home, but don't get it twisted, Ohio will always be in his Soul.
Hink is now focused on sharing the experiences of his travels and incorporating the international Miami culture into his music that has now become an important part of his style. He's super excited about sharing "Strength," his follow up EP to his previous work "Product of Struggle." "Strength," set to drop during the spring of 2016, will feature talented artists from all over the world and he says something very different.
"We decided to record the entire project live in the studio using live musicians for all sound on the records. We were able to bring in some very amazing artists such as super talented drummer Andy Russell, Grammy winner Tim Mitchell on guitar, Richard Bravo did outstanding percussion, perfection on the keyboards was provided by Bob Taylor and mastering by Mike Couzi. And I linked up with super talented Peruvian native Jose Val and Master Bass Player Steve Argy, who both performed and assisted with production on the new project.
Vocalist Amy Alvarado returned for the "Strength" record and brings an amazing compliment to the album with her beautiful voice. The lyrical flow of Hink blends perfectly with Amy's melodic tone.
