"Women are quick to buy that cute necklace or pair of earrings but they often forget about the great accessories available for their hair," said Holly Styles, Hairstylist.
The article argues that fashion week trends are not typically feasible for the average woman, or appropriate for daily life, but that recent pushes for hair accessories are easily adapted for the average woman. Tiny flowers tucked into a ponytail or bun can make an otherwise simple hairdo something to chat about.
For the right occasion, haircut or personality, a large flower can make a statement and bring an entire outfit together. Putting silk flowers on a thin headband is a simple way women can translate the red-carpet look into an everyday accessory.
Headbands are in fact, making a comeback. While they used to only adorn the heads of young schoolgirls, women are getting creative and making headbands elegant and chic. Today, there are diamond-studded, silk, patterned and a host of headband styles to suit a variety of personalities and outfits. Even items like thin scarves, silk bandanas or belts are easily transformed into chic and beautiful hair style accessories.
Other accessories that are becoming relevant again are hair clips. When hairstylists refer to clips, they are not talking about the giant claws used to create the librarian look from the movies.
Instead, small clips with jewels, attractive designs or fabrics are used to add glitz and glam to simple styles.
Next, consider the bow, little girls everywhere have probably experienced their parents or grandparents sticking a bow in their hair and calling it a style. While the new clips are a bit more sophisticated, the idea is still the same. A small section of hair pulled back in a stylish clip is all the rage.
"The best part about most hair accessories is that they are typically very affordable," Holly Styles, Hairstylist, said.
Some professionals consider the braid a hairstyle, but really it is also an accessory. A side-swept braid coming out from under a hat is a trendy, casual look. Fishtail braids, classic braids, waterfall braids and braided up-dos are all growing in popularity.
Whether a woman is interested in changing up a style by adding a braid, or implementing a little color, texture or sparkle with clips and headbands, Holly Styles, Hairstylist, recommends playing with accessories to create the perfect look.
