Author's Book Series Raises Awareness for Special Need Pets; Cats Added to 2nd Edition

BELLINGHAM, WA, September 21, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Blind Faith Expanded is the second book in Harper's compelling Blind Faith series focusing on special need animals, and their courageous and caring parents.

Ms. Harper's compassion as a photographer/author, and special need pets' parent, is evident in these books that discuss challenges ranging from chronic illnesses, to debilitating injuries, to simply aging with grace.

Motivation for the Blind Faith series is "to help raise awareness for special need animals," says Harper. Her past work in an animal shelter and personal experiences with her own beloved special need pets made Harper keenly aware that society must take more action.

Harper's appearances on Popular TV shows like The Pet Show with Dr. Katy (Washington DC, 2012; September, 2013) via Skype, helps further her ongoing goal to educate the public about rescue animals. Without adoption, many loving animals will needlessly perish.

Twinkle, Harper's blind Shih Tzu, inspired the first Blind Faith book. "The sad truth is had we not adopted Twinkle," says Harper, "we would never have given Kizmit a second thought; and that would have been tragic, because he too, was an incredible addition to our family." (Kizmit, also blind, passed away just as BFE was about to publish.)

"But it's also true," she says, "special need cats need love too!" recalling Sydney-the-cat's diabetes, complicated with a fatal kidney failure. Sydney and several other special cats join their canine counterparts, in BF-Expanded.

Adopting a special need pet can be challenging if not prepared, but the rewards are often warmly surprising. "The medical bills can be high and the labor involved in bringing these animals back from the brink can be overwhelming," says Michele Hayward Mariani, who wrote the foreword for BFE and is co-founder of Rebecca's Rainbow, a non-profit animal placement service for pets of elderly and terminally ill parents. "... however, one cannot help but feel hope, admiration, and awe for both animal and adopter."

Blind Faith Expanded and the original Blind Faith are available at Amazon.com. A Scotland native, Yvonne Harper resides in Washington State with her husband, Jason.
