SacGroove will be held Saturday, October 5 from 4 p.m. - 12 a.m., and Sunday, October 6 from 2 p.m. -8 p.m. at the Torch Club, 904 15th Street, Sacramento. Two-day tickets are $40; day passes are $25. Tickets can be purchased online at sacgroove2013.eventbrite.com, or at the Torch Club.
Scheduled performers for SacGroove include Dennis Jones, Maxx Cabello Jr., Joy and Madness, Keri Carr Band and Harlis Sweetwater Band. The event will also include raffles and silent auctions. Several food trucks will be on site for those who wish to purchase food.
Originally named Blues for Life, the event was rebranded as SacGroove to play up the diversity of featured bands. This year's event has been expanded to two days to showcase more music. "We've got amazing talent performing all weekend long," says Torch Club owner Marina Texeira. "All these musicians are donating their time, as many of them have been personally affected in some way by breast cancer."
Since its inception in 2006, the benefit concert has raised more than $250,000 for Albie Aware. "SacGroove is a great way for the community to support our work while coming together to celebrate life," says executive director Cindy Love.
