In the first case, Scott Lewis, on vacation from Australia, was struck by a car while crossing the street on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. He was hit by a Toyota Prius. Lewis had to be taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by ambulance for treatment of his broken leg which required emergency care. Mr. Lewis will also need additional surgery to remove the screws and rods put in place to help stabilize his broken leg. Mr. Corwin successfully recovered the $500,000 insurance policy limits from the defendant driver's insurance company for this pedestrian accident victim to cover the cost of past and future medical care and lost income as a result of the injury. Significantly, Mr. Corwin was able to overcome a police report and testimony from two witnesses that claimed that Mr. Lewis was running across the street mid-block, known as "jay walking."
In the second case, Joy Moh was struck by a 2003 Lexus while crossing Wilshire Boulevard in a marked cross walk in Los Angeles. Ms. Moh was thrown ten feet into the air from the force of the impact, causing her severe cervical and lumbar strains, multiple fractures in her right foot, and a right knee injury. Ms. Moh underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair the torn ligaments in her knee, and underwent a course of physical therapy alleviate her neck and back pain. Ms. Moh may require a future surgery on her knee as well. Attorney Corwin was able to successfully obtain a settlement of $225,000 for Ms. Moh to help pay for her current and future medical expenses.
