RIVERSIDE, CA, September 22, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- American All Star Basketball (AASB) is a non-profit travel basketball program in Southern California. Melvin McDonald of French Valley, a disabled combat veteran who served in the Gulf War, was proud to be elected the President of AASB. When asked about his role in AASB, Melvin McDonald of French Valley stated, "I serve as both the President and a coach for AASB. I enjoy being able to help the youth that come through our program both by running the organization and providing hands-on coaching." Melvin McDonald of French Valley donates his time to AASB for free, as do all of the other coaches, who work on a volunteer basis.

A tax exempt 501 3 organization, AASB works with children from the 5th grade to the 12th grade to teach them the fundamental skills of basketball and to motivate them toward success. All coaches at AASB are certified to coach basketball by both the NCAA and AAU, giving them both collegiate and amateur experience in coaching. Furthermore, many of the coaches, such as Melvin McDonald of French Valley, are certified in training and coaching basketball by Ganon Baker, a renowned basketball skills coach. This means that the players in AASB are provided with the benefit of extremely skilled mentors such as Melvin McDonald of French Valley.

At AASB, the goal of the organization is helping youth. All children benefit from being exposed to athletics, which teach them how to work hard, dedicate themselves, and commit to any challenge. Furthermore, Melvin McDonald of French Valley asserts that participating in a team sport provides youth with a sense of responsibility and teaches them the ability to work well with others and communicate. AASB is open to all students, regardless of gender, race, or ability. Under Melvin McDonald of French Valley's leadership, all players in AASB have the opportunity to compete during tournaments, competitions, and NCAA and AAU sanctioned events.

Much of the time that Melvin McDonald of French Valley puts into AASB, outside of coaching, is on the level of fundraising. Melvin McDonald of French Valley recently obtained a $5,000 donation for AASB from sponsor Richard E. Linn. All donations to AASB go directly to the players. AASB has a yearly fee of $200 and a membership fee of $15, which many underprivileged youth have difficulty paying. Because of his commitment to helping underprivileged and high risk youth, Melvin McDonald of French Valley ensures that all donations assist these children in paying their fees and taking part in the program.

In addition to Melvin McDonald of French Valley, the President of AASB, other board members include Stephanie McDonald, Treasurer, and Michael Lubrani, Attorney at Law. All board members of AASB as well as the coaches volunteer their time and resources for the youth in the program. AASB also has many sponsors, including D1 Nation, Southern Pacific AAU Boys Basketball, Richard E. Linn, Logo Joe's, Weigh in to Food, SKLZ Baseball, and Rock 'Em. As President of AASB, Melvin McDonald of French Valley will continue to guide the organization in its efforts to help and coach underprivileged youth.
