LONGWOOD, FL, September 24, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Richard Zahn, construction professional, continually advocates for a high degree of philanthropic activity within the business world. As a strong believer in social responsibility, Zahn is devoted to the idea of creating positive relationships between companies and the communities that support them. Recently, young entrepreneurs have been integrating philanthropy more prominently into their business dealings--some even writing charitable activity into their business models. According to an article published by Marketplace.org, this has given rise to what Matthew Bishop has termed "philanthrocapitalism."

Ultimately, the article explains, this idea boils down to "doing good while also doing well." A wonderful example of this is Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of Facebook and a professional who is known for his integration of philanthropy into various business decisions. Most recently, Zuckerberg has founded Internet.com. This organization serves to improve access to the World Wide Web for individuals living in developing countries. Essentially, barriers to Internet connectivity are keeping some populations from taking advantage of the educational, social, and financial benefits that the World Wide Web has to offer.

The philanthropic action of improving connectivity in order to create a higher quality of life for the individuals in slower developing countries, is also something that can ultimately boost business for Zuckerberg. More people online result in more potential Facebook members.

"This new generation of people like Mark Zuckerberg understands that to develop those markets in the developing world, you've got to build up the infrastructure and invest up front," Bishop explains.

Richard Zahn, construction pro, believes that philanthrocapitalism offers a win-win situation to all involved. "Businesses need communities in order to thrive," Zahn comments. "Without the support of communities, whether they are local or Internet-based, companies simply aren't going to be successful. One of the best ways to win the trust and business of a community is to serve as a positive influence on the lives of its members. So by supporting the needs of a community's residents, business owners are able to improve lives and secure future sales."

Zahn, who has always supported the philanthropic efforts of his businesses, believes that philanthrocapitalism is a wonderful new development. "Some people may see this as selfish on behalf of business owners, because they will, certainly, benefit from the charitable work that they conduct," reveals Zahn. "But, really, who doesn't benefit from the philanthropy with which they are involved? Feeling better about oneself is one of the best side effects of charitable work, and I believe that this mutually beneficial philanthropic model will encourage a higher number of professionals to take philanthropy seriously within the business arena."

Richard Zahn, construction professional, urges business owners to consider how they can integrate philanthrocapitalistic activity into their business models to improve their bottom line while also providing a positive impact on community members.
