NEW YORK, NY, October 13, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Coming of age during the Second World War and the Shoah, she determined to dedicate her life to the growth and advancement of Jewish people everywhere, and to the rebuilding of institutions. She became a highly prominent sponsor of Aleh Foundation and highly interested in the development of the Aleh Centers. Lillian accepted a tribute award, as well as a NYS Legislative Resolution in loving memory of her beloved sister, Beatrice Zeides,who suffered from cerebral palsy. Beatrice was born to Fanny & Hyman Zeides. Although disabled, she heroically managed to get a wonderful education and then a prestigious job in a private industry at US Life Insurance Company, where she traveled to work daily on the NYC subway system, her disability made it a major undertaking to get to work and even more difficult to be employed full-time. Not only was she not a burden to others, instead she left a legacy of warm memories, kindness and giving.

Lillian also had a brother, Shlomo who graduated Yeshiva University where he was ordained and ultimately served as a Rabbi in several Congregations in the State of New Jersey. Ms. Lillian Zeides agreed to participate at the 2013 Aleh Foundation Awards Dinner and accepted a tribute in memory of her sister, Beatrice, who was a pillar of courage. Her life ideals represented kindness, compassion, and love to all of humanity. Her exuberance towards good deeds was of paramount importance and an essence of her being.May her wonderful acts of concern, generosity and perseverance be an example for all of us to emulate. Their parents, Fruma & Chaim instilled in her to be charitable and kind and serve as a model for future generations. It will have the capacity to service 200 children, with special education classes ranging from kindergarten through high school. It will also include an Olympic-sized pool to provide daily hydrotherapy treatments. This school will be a role model for the entire world. The Aleh Foundation was formed in 1984 by a group of women to help cope with the staggering need for disabled children in Israel. In 1989 a delegation from Israel reached out to Rabbi Shlomo Braun to establish a US fundraising office and expand the Aleh Foundation's public relations and fundraising activities. The Aleh Foundation opened its first office in the United States in 1989, and developed a network of more than 30,000 friends throughout the USA who became staunch supporters of our activities. With the Aleh Foundation's help, the rehabilitation centers in Israel grew from a hospice program of 23 children to become the nation's largest provider of educational rehabilitative services to severely developmentally disabled children operating in four different cities in Israel.
