The clinic is called the Future Smiles Dental Clinic, and it received the grant from the Delta Dental of Arkansas Foundation. The check was presented recently during one of the children's dental clinics, which take place at a local elementary school. The clinic is committed to offering comprehensive dental care to kids who come from low to moderate-income households. The clinic is staffed by dental professionals who come from Arkansas Children's Hospital, as well as dental hygiene students studying at the University of Arkansas at Medical Sciences.

The daily clinic treats school-age children every month of the year, except for July. Since the clinic began, thousands of school children have had the ability to receive necessary dental care, which they might not otherwise have gotten. The efforts of the clinic are essential, especially as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention state that roughly 70 percent of kids experience some level of decay in their permanent teeth.

"These kinds of programs are an absolute necessity. A child's oral hygiene has a major impact on the health of their teeth and gums as they age. All children need access to good dental care, so the people staffing this clinic are providing a much-needed service for kids in this area. We can only hope that more programs like this continue to pop up around the country, thus helping all people get the care they need to stay happy and healthy as the children who rely on the clinic grow," notes a representative from Smile 32 Dental Center.
