NEW YORK, NY, October 18, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Wahab & Medenica partner Olivera Medenica co-authored the recently released The American Bar Association's Legal Guide to Fashion Design. Edited by David Faux, the Guide provides an accessible background to lawyers and non-lawyers alike on a variety of pragmatic legal issues faced by fashion industry insiders. Included are chapters on trademark, copyright, design patent, Internet law, business entity formation, financing, employment law, manufacturing, and legal issues related to runway shows, all written by experienced attorneys. Each chapter contains form agreements of many of the different types of contracts that are discussed, which are also on an enclosed CD for easy use.

Ms. Medenica's chapter on "Fashion Licensing" takes a closer look at storefront and commercial real estate, retail agreements, purchase orders, sales representative agreements, and wholesale agreements. Her goal in writing this chapter was to explain these agreements in a way that would make them less daunting to those in the fashion industry who are unfamiliar with them and encourage the use of a written contract rather than a handshake, which can have unforeseen consequences. Sample contracts included in Ms. Medenica's chapter are a Distribution Agreement, Purchase Order with Terms and Conditions, and a Sales Representative Agreement.

The Guide can be purchased online on the American Bar Association's website: http://apps.americanbar.org/abastore/index.cfm.
