SASKATOON, SK, August 16, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- This week Pela Case unveiled its newly redesigned website, featuring a lifestyle brand and updated logo. The Pela Case is a Canadian-made eco-friendly smartphone case made from Flaxstic , a plant-based, compostable material including flax shive "waste" from Saskatchewan fields. The Pela Case was originally launched in 2011 and has undergone a series of design and material changes to arrive at its current soft case design. Flaxstic was developed by Pela's parent company Open Mind Developments (OMD), a startup based out of Saskatchewan focusing on sustainable innovation. Flaxstic is environmentally and socially sustainable, it is made from a combination of flax straw 'waste' and plant based biopolymers. The flax fiber and flax shive provides the biopolymers with added texture, impact resistance and an eco-friendly appearance, while maintaining the biodegradability and compostability of the biopolymer.

Flaxstic's eco-friendly appearance is a natural way to help corporations and consumers identify eco-friendly plastic and promote the shift from conventional plastic to eco-friendly plastic. Pela Case has also updated its shipping policies to include free regular mail shipping worldwide. Pela offers free shipping worldwide to help start a global shift away from traditional plastic. This shift will help reduce the numerous negative effects of traditional plastic on our planet.
