TripAdvisor Names Surfers Paradise as a Top Destination on the Rise

imageThis morning, Surfers Paradise was named in the Top 10 Destinations on the Rise - South Pacific in TripAdvisor's 2015 Travellers' Choice Awards, beating rivals Sydney and Melbourne and adding to the list of TripAdvisor Awards received earlier this year.

“For Surfers Paradise, as a precinct to have rounded off the Top 10 Destinations on the Rise – South Pacific is a fantastic achievement; particularly given the rest of the Award Winners were whole cities or townships,” Gold Coast Tourism Chief Executive Officer, Martin Winter said.

“Surfers Paradise has long held an important role in the hearts and minds of visitors.  Like the rest of the Gold Coast, Surfers Paradise is in transformation, meaning there's never been a better time to rediscover an icon,” he urged.

“According to the other 2015 TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Awards announced earlier this year, the Gold Coast is home to three of the top ten beaches in Australia, Xanadu Holiday Resort in Main Beach is the number one hotel in Australia, while the Fish House placed second in the top restaurants in Australia.

“The world's largest travel site, TripAdvisor is an important tool for tourism attractions, accommodation providers and restaurants on the Gold Coast, not only as an online booking engine, but also a barometer to monitor and fine tune their customer service delivery,” Martin said.

TripAdvisor branded sites make up the largest travel community in the world, reaching 350 million unique monthly visitors, and more than 290 million reviews and opinions covering more than 5.3 million accommodations, restaurants and attractions. The sites operate in 47 countries worldwide.

According to the TripAdvisor website, 'the aptly-named Surfers Paradise is just that—a haven for those who pay homage to the gods of the sea by attempting to become one with the waves. The beach here is a golden stretch of soft sand that provides the perfect ambiance for a day of catching waves, catching a Frisbee or just catching some rays. Refuel at one of Surfers Paradise's 150 restaurants and cafes, or hit a Northside day spa to soothe your surf-weary muscles and smooth your sun-kissed skin.'
