The former partner of global law firm K&L Gates will head a property team of six who have moved with her to William James.
“The big global law firms just don’t do property well,” William James Partner Jodie Masson said.
“Global platforms are expensive and cumbersome to run, and they don’t really work for the property space, which is essentially a local industry.
“Property clients shouldn’t have to pay a “global rate” to support a platform they don’t need and haven’t asked for. I have seen a need to create a specialist property practice that actually works for the property industry.
“Less bureaucracy at William James means that we can be nimble, deliver quality advice, and get property deals done more quickly,” Ms Masson said.
William James Managing Partner Brendan Wyhoon said property is an area that is very complimentary to the firm’s existing specialities of insolvency and disputes.

With nearly 10 years’ experience as a property partner and 20 years working in property law, Masson and her team have extensive experience in acquisitions, disposals, commercial leasing and specialist property advice.
“We offer a unique service which has seen many of our clients from K&L Gates make the move with us to William James,” Ms Masson said.
“I feel very privileged to be working with some of the largest property names in the business with billions of dollars under management,” she concluded.
