Launch of Australia's first MOVE store

Style and technology come together with the launch of Australia’s first Move store

- A first of its kind, premium retail experience for people on the ‘Move’ -

Sydney 4 October 2013. Australia’s first Move store launches this Saturday 5 October at 9am in Westfield Bondi Junction. The first of its kind in the Australian consumer electronics space, Move will sell fashion inspired accessories, computers and mobile devices to consumers who want their technology with a twist of individuality and style.

Collaboration is at the heart of Move’s architecture, which involves working with leading figures in fashion and design to inspire the store’s collection and the customer’s experience; including a curated and celebrity endorsed editor’s section, where customers can purchase fashion focussed technology products chosen by leading style icons.

To celebrate its launch Move has selected ‘Connected to Style’ as its first theme, inspired by the lifestyle of New York based, Australian model, stylist and 4th and Bleeker blogger, Alexandra Spencer.  Alexandra has joined forces with Move to curate a range of her favourite, stylish technology products, which will be unveiled at launch. Also at launch, leading Australian fashion duo Romance Was Born will unveil their limited edition smart phone and tablet covers, co-developed with the store team, that will be sold exclusively at Move.

The new Move concept is backed by Dick Smith, which brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in the consumer tech area. However, Move will target a new audience who will be able to purchase style-inspired technology in an environment that appeals to them, for the first time in Australia.

Chief Executive Officer of Dick Smith and Move Mr Nick Abboud, said, “While benefitting from Dick Smith’s years of experience, Move is pioneering the growth of style inspired technology in Australia. It is an exciting  brand that targets customers who are interested in wearable technology – a trend we’ve witnessed overseas where the demand is growing. Move is at the beginning of its evolution and we plan to make the brand available to more customers in equally unique stores in new locations soon”.

Move is designed to help customers unleash their full style potential and stimulate shoppers’ senses – from the music that is played to the aroma of the store.

Customers will be able to design accessories that reflect their own style, using an inspiration scrapbooking table. After creating their design, or ‘wrapping it up’, customers head to the ‘fitting table’ to produce their own, custom-made accessories.  An extension of this is a specially designed, limited time ‘Style Pod’ that can be found outside of the store and lets customers create bespoke images of their individual style on the streets of New York, which they can share on social media.

To ensure a unique, premium shopping experience, Move staff are trained in the ‘ceremony of selling’, providing  the customer an experience only normally available in prestigious international fashionboutiques.

4th and Bleeker blogger, Alexandra Spencer said of her curation in-store, “Being able to pick and choose tech products that suit my style, or the way I live my life, is really unique. My curated range for the launch of Move is a way of showcasing my personal style – something that I think is essential to looking great while leading a busy life”.

Enhancing the appeal to customers, the store’s flexible design will allow for a pop-up feel that can be tailored to regularly changing, unique themes. An upcoming theme will be inspired by the store’s location and will reflect the lives of local customers.

The first Move store, located at Westfield Bondi Junction will open on Saturday with a special performance by pop sensation and TV star, Timomatic. Timomatic will perform his latest hits, including ‘Parachute’, ‘Set it Off’ and ‘If Looks Could Kill’ from 10:30am at Westfield Centre Court on Level 4, before  meeting with fans and signing autographs at the store’s new Bondi Junction location (Ground floor, Westfield Bondi Junction).

As well as the performance, Move will celebrate its opening with some incredible one-off opening deals and showcase curated products and exclusive ranges that will not be available online.
