Interesting professions in the building trade

Getting involved the property development game as a profession is an interesting and potentially lucrative business, particularly if you are exploring a career that is quite adventurous and could offer some travel opportunities, if not around the world then at least around your country or city. While it is not the most well paid job, it is pretty much among some of the better paid vocations on offer these days. Take a look at some of the professions that will bring you fulfilment beyond the salary.

On the site

There are enough building inspectors out there that will swear by the goodness of their job, and rightly so. Being responsible for the erection of a solid house, block of flats or office tower is very favourable for those wanting to do good for those around them. It has both an analytical and emotional edge to the job, with the needs of the individual wanting to live there and the numbers and digits required to make that happen up for debate and finalisation.

With others

Somewhat more of a blue collar job is that of a bricklayer, responsible for the regimented and carefully measured walls and related objects in the process of making a house or office block. It is not for those who are not team players, as it very much needs to be done alongside others, who are in it together – and can celebrate and relish the continuation or completion of a job in unison. The team will need a leader, indeed, but his or her subordinates need to take collective responsibility.

Window maker

From aluminium to wooden and plastic composite to iron cladding, window options are plentiful - and deserve due consideration. The man or female responsible for making the windows is highly important, as one obviously can’t just have a big block of bricks as a house without glass squares and rectangles to look through. The windows need to be able to retain heat and let in cool air at the swing or swivel of a latch or hatch, which the window makers will certainly take into consideration – and make happen when the tim is right.

Landscape artists

Glorified gardeners or professional and educated landscapers are required for the outside area alongside or around the house or office block building. They take charge of the beautification and hopefully bring enough flowers and plants and other growing greens to the party to make things look really pretty. The can turn a soil bed into a veritable greenhouse and make a tired piece of land look amazing with a wonderful strip of grass. The options are not quite endless, but they are – indeed – numerous, when one really puts their mind to it.

Plasterers

Plastering a wall on the inside or outside of the building is an art of its own, which bricklayers won’t necessarily be able to do themselves – and will need to outsource or hire in for that smooth and final surface that is effectively the finishing touches to the project as a whole. When this is the example to follow, they follow suit – and the wall looks superb.
