New start-up Laundromap lands in Australia

Get ready for more industry disruption – and this time it might not be a clean fight.

Laundromap, is an on-demand dry cleaning pick-up and delivery service – set to put the $2billion dollar Australian market into a spin cycle. Laundromap has its sights set on becoming the first standardised, national “on demand” dry cleaning brand.

The app allows time-poor Aussies to outsource their dry-cleaning and laundry, with home or office pickup and delivery, and extended trading hours of 7am to 10pm, seven days a week.

The Australian roll out, which has begun in Sydney and Perth, comes after a successful launch in New Zealand. Thousands have embraced the service across Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

Cofounder and CEO Hayden Foster said Laundromap would use the funds from a planned capital raise to expand its footprint across Australia.

“In many ways, dry-cleaning is stuck in the past and hopefully we’re putting a modern twist on that. We’re bringing your dirty clothes into the 21st century with a service offering that is truly customer centric.”

“You no longer need to queue for your morning coffee or a cab, and thanks to Laundromap you’ll never need to queue for your dry-cleaning again.”

“We’ve eliminated the need to physically drag a big bag of dirty dry cleaning into work and the hassle of travelling on public transport with the awkwardness of freshly cleaned clothes wrapped in plastic on coat hangers.”

The 2016 Census data found that Australians spend between five and 14 hours a week on domestic housework and Laundromap can reduce time spent on Laundry to just a few minutes[1].  In a few clicks and taps of an iPhone or tablet – the entire job is done.

“Our experience shows that customers don’t just use Laundromap to clean work and formal wear. They’re using the app for a range of items including: standard clothing, linen, delicate items, and specialised dry-cleaning. Essentially, we’ve become a one-stop digital laundry shop.”

Research by Newstrategist estimates those responsible for doing the laundry spend three years’ worth of time on the chore[2], suggesting Laundromap can add years of leisure time back into the lives of consumers.

“Through the app, it’s effortless to outsource your dry-cleaning in a matter of minutes via your iOS or Android device.”

“We also provide real-time updates through our GPS tracking system to give you peace of mind, so you can track the status of your clothes at all times.”

“Given we service suburban areas, customers also have the option to activate a ‘delivery note’ within the app, where they can leave a note letting their agent where to collect or leave their orders if they aren't home at the time.”

Laundromap works with trusted and proven dry cleaning and laundry businesses. The standard service has a 48-hour turnaround, with the express service allowing for collection, cleaning and delivery within 24 hours.

Since their launch in New Zealand late last year, the app has already been downloaded over 15,000 times and the business has been growing at a steady rate of 30 per cent month on month.
