Proven Ways To Keep Your Employees Happy

As determined and hardworking as you might be, when it comes to business you can’t do it alone. There are so many roles in each company, and getting the right staff in to fulfill them could mean the difference between success and failure. But how do you get the right people for the job? When the best employees in regards to experience and track record will have their pick of companies to work at, you need to make sure you’re offering something to make it worth their while. Here are just a few of the ways you can do so.

Offer Good Employee Benefits

Good wages goes without saying, your employees should be paid fairly based on their experience. But it’s not just wages people will be looking for when considering working for your company. Employee benefits are another way to attract the best people- medical, dental and retirement plans give people a sense of security. A company car, a laptop or a smartphone could also be an option. Think of what would make your worker's jobs more convenient, and provide them with the equipment to do it well.

Set Up a Good Office Space

Your office is at the heart of your business. It’s where your employees will be spending most of their time and for that matter a huge portion of their life in general! So creating an attractive office space will make things as pleasant as possible for them. Have the walls painted a light, neutral color, invest in good desks, chairs and computers. Display living plants, which not only look nice but have been shown to boost mood and productivity at work. Addressing the lighting is another thing, fluorescents can be harsh and cause eye strain- use daylight bulbs or better still position desks, so they’re close to windows. Natural daylight is another mood booster, so a free and easy way to increase workers happiness!

Team Building Activities

Your employees should all be excellent at working on their own, and on their own initiative. But they also need to work well as a team too. There are all kinds of training techniques you could try, from scrum master training training to team building activities. Lots of companies run workshops and training days you could attend. Another thing you could do is arrange team outings, even just the occasional lunch, dinner or drinks paid by the company is bound to go down well and is a good way for everyone to get to know each other.

Listen

If you’re the sort of boss that employees feel comfortable coming to with issues, they are likely to get sorted far more quickly. Plus it builds up that professional trust and helps employees to feel valued. Be approachable, take what your workers are saying on board. Listening and taking appropriate action where needed will keep your workforce happy.

How do you make sure your employees are kept happy at work?
