OIFC Provides Indian Diaspora Based in Australia with the Opportunity to Interact with Business Leaders

NEW DELHI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Overseas Indian Facilitation Centre (OIFC), a not-for-profit, public-private partnership between the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA), Government of India and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), an apex industry chamber, will be participating in the Regional Pravasi Bhartiya Divas (PBD) Convention that is being organized by the MOIA in Sydney from November 10-12, 2013 at Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre.

OIFC, through its many activities aims to provide credible information to the Indian Diaspora so that they can engage with the country for economic growth. We have already seen a significant interest from the Indian Diaspora based in Australia for this event who are keen on knowing how best they can set up a business in India or investment in the real estate and financial sector. OIFC plays a critical role in facilitating this information.

OIFC along with its various knowledge partners will play a significant role in this PBD by conducting sessions focused on economic engagement with India. OIFC knowledge partners Kotak Mahindra Bank, Yes Bank and Ezy Laws will be conducting sessions on – ‘NRI banking in India and inside perspectives’, ‘Opportunities of financial engagement for NRIs in India’ and ‘Legal process outsourcing industry in India’ respectively. These sessions are aimed at showcasing the many possibilities and avenues that the Indian Diaspora can avail to partake in business connection with India.

A number of them are keen on the progress and development in India and will be interested in evaluating opportunities of economic engagement. OIFC helps the participants channelize this interest and capability towards the appropriate direction and network. The Pravasi Bhartiya Divas will bring together and facilitate the business leaders and the vibrant Indian Diaspora, forge trade ties and explore investment linkages with each other.”

More than a thousand individuals are expected to participate in various programmes planned during this convention. B2B meetings will be organised by OIFC in association with the CII and Australia India Business Council during the conference,” Ms Sudarshan added.

The event will see participation from all States and Territories of Australia and from neighboring countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Manila, Hong Kong, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, Fiji and the Pacific Islands.

The event will feature discussions on different aspects of India’s relationship with Australia and countries of the region including resources, energy, infrastructure, agriculture, manufacturing, skills and education, languages, women in business and culture.

Regional PBDs are organised by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs with the collaboration of the host Government, the Indian Mission, Prominent Overseas Indians and organisations catering to the needs of the Indian Diaspora. The Pravasi Bhartiya Divas is a platform that will help them reach out to members of the Indian community who have been unable to participate in the annual PBD held in India. This PBD will provide the 450,000 number of Indians based in Australia and the Pacific to contribute to the relationship between the countries of the region and India.
