On The Open Road To Success

Gone are the days when you had to sit behind a desk for an average of 40 hours a week to make money. Nowadays, people are making a living working from home, in coffee shops, or on the open road. One industry that has surprisingly started to take off recently involves going on the road with trucks; no, not all of them are for selling food. Perhaps it’s the growing demand of people who would like things delivered to their door, or a newfound appeal of being on the road all day, but here are a few businesses that are taking to the open highway.

Mechanics

As a business idea, becoming a mobile mechanic just makes sense, since it’s difficult getting to a mechanic with a malfunctioning car. By taking your car knowledge on the road, you can service your customers at their office, home, or if they have a breakdown on the road. Sure, they might have insurance to cover that, but if you build up a relationship with them, they might trust you to fix the problem more than they would a faceless insurance company.

Massage/ beauty therapist

For women, getting their hair and nails done, or taking time to visit a spa for a massage, is increasingly becoming a luxury; usually there are too many things to do during the day which limits the time when they can make an appointment. For aspiring massage and beauty therapists, becoming a mobile hairdresser is a very lucrative business. While the headache of researching truck sales and comparing prices might be a hassle, the overall cost of buying and fixing up a truck is only a fraction of the cost to rent out and furnish a space, especially when your target clients might not have time to come in. In the case of massage treatments, the client has the option of setting up a space where they feel truly relaxed, and they don’t immediately undo your work by getting stressed on the road all over again.

Personal trainer

Squeezing the gym into an already busy schedule can potentially cause more stress, or lead to money down the drain from an unused gym membership. Although there are many ways to stay healthy and fit without joining a gym, there are some who feel they workout better when they have a personal trainer instructing them. Qualified personal trainers can visit their clients in their own homes, instruct them in the proper use of the equipment they buy for their home gym, and help them stay on track with their targets. If said personal trainer is also a qualified nutritionist, they can take a look in your cupboards and get a better idea of their client’s eating habits.

Although this is an industry that requires specialised training, mobile midwives are becoming increasingly popular with mothers who want a more personal service. Midwives provide in-home support, by making new babies’ homecomings from the hospital less tiresome, and doing some light housework for the exhausted parents.
