While some of these places are full of tourists and will cost you an arm and a leg, there are plenty of other places to visit-for free. Whether you are road tripping in a campervan or a car, you will have to fill up on petrol. Petrol can be one of the highest expenses on your trip, so to help take off a few dollars, look for vouchers for petrol in your receipts or invest in a petrol reward card before setting out. While it may not seem like much, it will definitely save you a few bucks that can be better spent towards adventure.
Forget tipping. This one is a bit difficult to swallow if you are from the U.S where tipping is a must, but in New Zealand it isn’t a part of the culture. Service industry employees get paid well for their work so you don’t have to worry if you don’t leave a whopping 20% as you would in the U.S. Don’t worry, you won’t be getting the stink eye. If you feel bad for not leaving an extra, a small percentage of your bill is more than enough.
