On September 19, 2012, Alabama Congressman Mo Brooks submitted a summary of General Patrick O'Reilly's career to the House of Representatives. In this tribute all of the many accomplishments of General Patrick O'Reilly were discussed, summarized, and presented. The memories of that tribute motivated General Patrick O'Reilly to share some of his life experiences. He wants to make sure his experiences and lessons learned benefit the next generation of senior technology, business and military leaders.

General Patrick O'Reilly has agreed to speak at many different community and professional forums to motivate military and public service - especially our youth. "I have been extremely impressed by the dedication, intelligence and generosity of our youth. They are very industrious and anxiously looking for opportunities to serve society," said General Patrick O'Reilly.

General Patrick O'Reilly relies on his long tenure of public service beginning with his time at the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY until his retirement as Director of the Missile Defense Agency in 2012.

General Patrick O'Reilly attended West Point from 1974-1978, and upon graduation began work with the 1st Cavalry Division as a Shop Manager. He then went on to work as a Commander for the Heavy Maintenance Company in Hanau, Germany. Upon finishing up there in 1983, General Patrick O'Reilly decided to go back to school. "While it is popular these days for young adults to receive multiple degrees of education, when I was in school it was a rarer," he said. General Patrick O'Reilly went back to receive an M.S. in Physics from the Naval Postgraduate School, a M.A. in National Security and Strategic studies from the Naval War College, and a M.S. in Management from Salve Regina College in Newport, RI.

Upon attaining his various degrees and certifications, General Patrick O'Reilly would go on to become an associate professor of physics at West Point, become a Project Manager for multiple missile and defense organizations, and become Director for the Ground-Based Military Defense Program and the Missile Defense Agency. "I have experienced a lot of lessons learned in my career, and I want to make sure I don't just keep them to myself. I relate many experiences to people I professionally consult, but it is different sharing them with young audiences," said General Patrick O'Reilly. "Although technologies have changed, the basic fundamentals of leading people, inspiring others and achieving ultimate successes has not waivered over time. I am optimistic that the generation entering the workforce today has the aptitude to meet our future challenges."
