Heatnet 3.0 digital boiler management system offers real time remote monitoring

WESTFIELD, Mass. – In today’s commercial boiler market, efficiency is everything. Architects, engineers, building owners, contractors, and others are seeking systems that offer both top-notch performance and a reduced environmental footprint.

To answer that need, the KN Series by Advanced Thermal Hydronics (ATH) has taken its line of high-efficiency cast-iron boilers specifically engineered for environmental sustainability, and enhanced them with a digital boiler control software upgrade, and new fuel-air management and modulating options for optimal performance.

According to Ken Cohen, lead design engineer for the KN series, “This is just the latest series of upgrades to enhance the proven performance of our line cast-iron heat-exchanger products. In enhancing the entire line with our newest version of Heatnet, and an innovative air-flow management system, KN boilers can reach efficiencies as high as 99% while owners can be alerted to and respond to out of spec performance. And that’s what it’s all about.”

The HeatNet 3.0 is just the latest upgrade of the well-known Heatnet control system, designed for precise digital boiler system control and increased energy efficiency. Heatnet 3.0 allows for real time remote monitoring of boiler temperatures, limit circuit inputs, and overall system demands. HeatNet also provides seamless boiler-to-boiler communication in all applications, including hybrid designs, and optimizes system efficiency by prioritizing the firing rotation of all boilers within the system. A single Heatnet 3.0 enabled boiler is capable of controlling up to 16 boilers and can easily integrate with most building management systems.

In addition to control performance Heatnet 3.0 can also issue e-mail alerts to supervising personnel.

Key features of Heatnet:

• Lead/Lag Cascade (16 Units)

• Adaptive Modulation

• Circulator Pump/VFD/Valve Control

• BMS Integration

• Freeze Protection & Delta T Monitoring

• Hybrid / Base Load Capability

• Priority Boiler Control

• Touch Screen Programming

• Domestic Hot Water Communication

• Flash Drive Updateable

New 3.0 enhancements:

• Web-based remote monitoring / dashboard

• Diagnostics

• Troubleshooting

• Set points

• Service logs and Test data

• Operational scenarios

• E-mail alerts

The other innovation in the line upgrade is the addition of Tru-Flow™ Fuel/Air Coupling boiler control system developed to keep KN Series cast-iron boilers running cleanly and efficiently. Working in conjunction with integrated HeatNet boiler management system, Tru-flow offers precision air/fuel mixture control for optimal combustion regardless of the environmental elements. This allows for 5:1 continuous turndown and reduced vent diameters and longer vent runs for increased application flexibility.

All KN Series boiler units are prepackaged for simple installation, peak mechanical system performance, and easy serviceability. They are also the first commercial boilers to achieve the high efficiency of condensing applications utilizing durable cast iron, which is both condition tolerant and heat retentive.
